Fortinet Security Vulnerability
It's been a rough time for security hardware recently. In the past several months, there have been major issues with a number of different vendor's products. Juniper had a backdoor in its products due to the use of a known compromised RNG, which allowed attackers to decrypt VPN and other encrypted traffic. This is fairly serious but required access to both the traffic and the original firewall to be at risk. Read more.
vSphere Bug Can Cause Corrupt Backups
Earlier this month, several of our vendors notified us of a bug in vSphere 6 Change Block Tracking (CBT) – where the API is returning incorrect data on incremental VM backups. Most modern backup technologies use this to shorten backup windows and reduce I/O on VMware machines. Read more.

Cisco today announced a new monitoring tool named Cloud Consumption as a Service that collects network traffic information and presents IT officials with a peek into any use of public-cloud based services within a company. AWS Announces Cloudwatch Events to Monitor and Rapidly React to Changes in your AWS Resources
Amazon CloudWatch now provides a stream of events describing changes to your AWS resources, such as an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance coming into service or failing a system health check, the Auto Scaling service adding instances to a deployment, or suspicious API call patterns being logged in AWS CloudTrail.
